How it works

Design it. Print it.
Squish it.

Paper Squishy is screen time that ends with something to hold: the app does the designing and the instructions, and the making happens at the table.

Pick a shape. Toast, a cloud, a cat, a cupcake, a capybara, a pumpkin, a snowman and more.
Make it theirs. 16 colors, 8 patterns, 11 faces, rosy cheeks, 13 stickers, a pen with sparkle ink, word chips like "Hi!" and "Yum!", and a name.
Print at actual size. Small, Medium or Large on US Letter or A4, with AirPrint. Black and white is fine.
Flat or 3D. Most shapes are a front and a back; the milk carton, waffle, butter, juice box and gift can also print as a 3D box with fold lines and tabs.
Picture steps. Color it, tape over it, a grown-up cuts it out, tape the edges, stuff it, seal it up.
Read aloud. A speaker button reads every instruction with the voice built into the device, for early readers.
A shelf of squishies. Every design is saved on the home screen, ready to change or print again.

What you'll need

A printer, paper
and packing tape.

A printer and plain paper. No printer at home? A grown-up can save the PDF and print it at a library or school.
Clear packing tape. Wide tape works best. Please help: tape dispensers have a sharp edge.
Scissors, used by a grown-up.
Stuffing: cotton balls, tissues or scrap paper.
Markers or crayons, if you like.

Paper squishies are for squeezing, not for heating, microwaving or freezing.
