Bot Academy / Privacy Policy
Bot Academy Privacy Policy
Bot Academy is a game for kids that teaches how AI works. We built it so that nothing your child does in the app leaves their device. In short: we don't collect any data.
What we collect
Nothing. Bot Academy:
- has no accounts, sign-ups or logins
- doesn't ask for names, ages, email addresses, locations or photos
- has no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and includes no third-party code that does these things
- never connects to our servers or anyone else's: we don't have servers
What stays on the device
To remember your child's progress (fixed buildings, stars, sparks, cards and Bolt's parts), the app saves it on the device itself. It is never sent anywhere. Deleting the app deletes it.
The app also keeps a small learning log on the device, so the parent area can show what your child learned: their answers to each lesson's "predict" question before and after the lesson, whether they got a lesson's mid-lesson question right, and when they chose "Can't tell, let me check" or "Look it up" in a game. It holds no names and nothing your child types, only which lesson or game and which button. It never leaves the device. Reset progress in the parent area clears it, along with the rest of the progress, and deleting the app deletes it.
The AI in Bot Academy runs on the device:
- Bolt's answers. On iPhones and iPads that support Apple Intelligence, Bolt writes answers with Apple's on-device model. What your child types is used to write the answer and isn't saved or sent anywhere. On other devices, Bolt uses answers that come with the app.
- Talking to Bolt (optional). If your child chooses to say a prompt out loud, the app asks for microphone and speech recognition permission first. Their voice is turned into words on the device, and the recording is not saved or sent anywhere. This feature only appears on devices that can do this on-device. You can turn the permission off at any time in the Settings app.
Purchases
The Full Academy unlock is bought through Apple's App Store. Apple handles the payment; we never see any payment details. Purchases are behind a parent gate so children can't start them by accident, and Apple also asks for your Apple ID password, or your approval with Ask to Buy. If Family Sharing is on, Apple may share the purchase with your family.
Parent area
The parent area and purchases sit behind a parent gate (a question for grown-ups). The app has no links to websites or other apps.
Children's privacy
Bot Academy is made for children, and is designed to follow the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the GDPR and Apple's rules for the Kids category. Since we don't collect personal information from anyone, there is nothing to review, change or delete. If you have questions, contact us below.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, we'll update it here and change the effective date above. If a future version of the app would collect any data, we'd update this policy first and ask for a parent's consent where the law requires it.
